Key Strategies for Managing Application Performance Across the Delivery Chain

TRAC's recent survey shows that poor application performance negatively impacts some of the key business areas and, therefore, effective performance management cannot be seen as an afterthought. Besides a “soft” impact, like decreased customer satisfaction and employee productivity, the impact of performance problems can be quantified in categories such as lost revenue opportunities that could occur on daily basis.

Additionally, an ineffectiveness of IT staff due to the inability to prevent performance issues leads to higher operational costs by lacking the processes and information flows in place to operate applications at optimal costs. As a result, IT staff gets pulled from creating a business value for the organization to compensate for ineffective performance management practices. This leads to increased cost of IT operations, while leaving organizations with fewer resources available for launching new services and investing in innovation.
